I've been trying to get some exercise by walking laps around the horseshoe we live in. It doesn't sound too difficult, but sometimes I wonder if its worth my efforts considering that most the time I am going at my children's pace. Anyway, Reagan decided to change things up a bit, and I played along.
Just after our first lap, Reagan says to me, "Mom, lets pretend we're pioneers. The stroller can be our wagon, and Morgan can be our stuff." I had to laugh that Morgan was 'our stuff' because she was riding in the stroller. Oh, and by the way I did not teach her this pioneer stuff. She must have picked it up from primary when they were talking about pioneer day or perhaps my mom. She is so smart!
So we're walking along, about a house or two later she says, "Uh oh, there's trouble ahead." I asked her what the trouble was, and she replied, "There's a river up ahead that we have to swim across." As you can imagine, we pretended to swim across the river (the neighbors sprinklers were on).
These types of events continued throughout our walk. We trekked through mud, making a squishy noise while pretending that our feet were actually in the mud. There were some crocodiles and monsters (that part was new to me) so we had to tip toe through them. At one point she even pretended she was the ox pulling our wagon. Oh, and we were playing Scooby Doo (her newest obsession) at the same time. She was Pioneer Daphne, I was Pioneer Fred, and Morgan was Pioneer Scooby.
Reagan can be so funny!! I bet it was entertaining to watch us, and hopefully my efforts burned off a few extra calories. Ha ha!
