Adjusting from 1 to 2, and other fun tidbits

Adjusting from having one child to two children has been both easier and more difficult than I expected it to be. Here are some of my experiences, things I've learned and cute things Sugar Rea has done since we brought home Miss Mo.
Recovering Physically and Emotionally

Many of you have asked how I've been feeling since the birth of Miss Mo. It seems my body is healing just fine. However I have dived in head first into the post-partum blues. I struggled with them after Reagan was born, but it didn't set in as fast. I think nursing is connected to it somehow. I was aware of the baby blues only 5 days after Morgans birth. It was about 3 months after I had Reagan. Anyway, my medication has been adjusted and I am feeling much better. Trever is doing his best to help me while still working and going to school, both full time. As you can imagine, neither of us are getting much sleep. Its not too bad, we just need to figure out how to get the girls to sleep at the same time.

Reagan has been handling it really well. She still says she wants to keep her, but when anyone asks if they can take Morgan she says yes. I think she's a little confused. Overall she enjoys being a big sister. Our Garden

We never have had a garden before. I thought since we're living with my mom, it would be the perfect opportunity to try my hand at it. At first Trever wasn't to keen on the idea, but once he saw that I had my mind set on it he has helped me a ton with it. My mom took me to the green house to pick out some plants for me to grow.

I knew I wanted tomatoes, zucchini and squash. I ended up with some peppers too. My mom waited for me in the car with Reagan. Being so new at this and a bit insecure about what to buy, I kept running back out to the car to ask her what was a good deal and if I should buy the plant. Well when it came to the tomatoes I noticed that it was cheaper to buy a flat than the individual container. I ran out and asked my mom if I should buy it. She said sure that sounds good.

Later that night when Trever and I were getting ready to plant them, he got a good laugh at me. He informed me that the individual containers have 4 plants in them not 1. Oops! Turns out I had bought 40 tomato plants. We ended up planting 17 of them (cause that's all we had room for) and we gave the rest away. Now we have a forest of tomatoes growing, check them out. To put these pictures in perspective Reagan stands at 3ft, and Trever stands over 6ft. Whew!

Trever calls this his "Smurf Suit"

Its his uniform he has to wear for school

Reagan Loves Books
Reagan loves books like most kids her age. We have found a fun summer past time at the library. Once a week we would go in for story time, afterwards they would have a fun snack and little craft that went along with the stories they read. Reagan LOVED it. When we would finish we would go back into the library to pick out some books to take home. One day after getting home from the library she had picked a book and wanted me to read it to her. I was feeding Morgan at the time, so I told her we could read it but she would have to turn the pages for me. At first it took her a minute to realize it was time to turn the page. Then I remembered those classic books on tape that you can follow along with. They would have a beep when it was time to turn the page. I told Reagan I would say beep when it was time to turn the page. She thought it was so fun. She even giggled when I'd say it. When we finished she said mom I wanted me to read another one to her. I agreed. Then she said, " this time can you say honk-honk?" She is so funny.
Morgan Smiles
Morgan is becoming a pro at holding up her head. She weighs nearly 11 pounds and has also started smiling. She seems to smile and coo the most at Reagan. There is something special about sisters. Here are some of her first smiles. Oh...and it looks like her eyes are going to be blue.

Lucky Daddy, Holding 2 Cute Girls
Fun With Grandma
Since Morgan arrived, Reagan has had quite a bit of one on one time with Grandma. They love to make things together. Reagan especially loves to make animals. You'll notice in the next picture the wall behind Reagan, and the one to the right are displaying only some of their creations. Grandma is loving her new wallpaper.
Rea wouldn't hold still for these pictures, in fact I was chasing after her with the camera. I didn't think they would turn out.
It actually looks like she's posing for them....
...they turned out pretty cute. Curls! Curls! Curls! I always hoped my girls would get my curly hair. It looks like there still may be some hope. I didn't get my curly hair until I was a little older than Rea is now. A couple weeks ago Reagan let me put curlers in her hair. She even modeled for me. She looked so cute! Curlers In Curlers Out A couple of days ago I noticed a few curls in the back of her hair after playing in the water. The next day I put some moose in her hair and this is how it turned out. Little Bit Moose A Whole Bunch of Scrunch
Which do you like better?
Switch
Trever was taking pictures of Rea playing with her doll.

Then she decided to exchange her doll for the camera.

You're a good sport dad. Not a bad picture for a 2yr old.

Potty Training

I tested Rea several times for 'readiness' without success. Then we decided to wait till after the baby arrived. We didn't want to her regress and have to start over again. Well, about three weeks after we brought Mo home, I was changing Reagan's diaper and was about to put the clean one on when she told me she didn't want to wear diapers anymore. I was floored! Are you sure? I asked her. I made her promise that she would tell me when she needed to go about 15 times. She agreed, so she got to wear panties. Shortly after she got her panties on, she was playing with her toys and she had an accident. She started bawling and told me she didn't know that was going to happen. It was hard for me to keep from laughing, it was kind of funny. After that she didn't have many accidents. Lessons learned from this experience: Training pants are useless, training potty's are just as bad, don't pressure your child wait till its his/her idea, and have some sort of potty chart. The chart gets them excited and they can see their progress.

Whew!!! That was a long post. There's still more to come. Believe it or not I've been trying to finish this post for about a month. Babies keep me busy busy.
